Novice Girls:
The Brockville Chiropractic Novice Angels had their home tournament. They played three round robin games against Kingston Ice Wolves Red, Ottawa 2 and Kingston Ice Wolves Black, winning all three games to advance to the semi finals. We faced off against Kingston Ice Wolves Blue in a tight semi final game and won 4-2. This put us in the finals against Carleton Place Cyclones. It was our toughest game yet this year. We ran out of time and steam, losing 3-2. There were great efforts put in by all the girls and for many on the team this was their first tournament.
Atom House:
In round robin play, the atom house team had two wins and two hard fought losses. In the semi finals, they were narrowly defeated. Tournament Digger awards went to Allison Davis, Mackenzie Richards, Alex Moulton, Leigha Geraghty and Taylor Livingstone.

As for the team, they all had a super fun weekend, doing some team building and increasing friendships. Both teams started out strong on Friday, scoring three of the game's five goals in the first eight minutes of the game. The score was 2-1 Brockville after one period but Ottawa tied the game half way through the second. Brockville took the lead on Megan Robinson's third goal of the game two minutes later. From then on, Brockville kept control of the play. Ottawa had a lot of pressure, but was unable to capitalize in the final two minutes of the game. It was a good show of Brockville's defensive ability to keep the puck to the outside of the rink.
The second game played by Brockville was against Outremont. This was more of a normal game for Brockville as they dominated from the start. After the first period, it was 1-0 Brockville. Brockville scored another goal in the second period to make it 2-0 after two periods. Four minutes into the third period, it was 5-0 Brockville and not much changed except for a late goal by Outremont's No. 18 Madeliene Michaud.
Brockville's third game was Saturday against Kingston. Brockville's Shawna Reid scored the first goal two minutes into the game with Kingston's tying it up 19 seconds later. Kingston then took the lead before the period ended. The second period was back and forth with Brockville's Victoria Gearey doing a great job of forechecking to keep the score at 2-1 after two periods. Four-and-a-half-minutes into the third period, Katie Gendron managed to get the puck to Victoria Gearey who set up Samatha Cauley for the game tying goal. Two minutes after Brockville's goal, Abby Makin Kingston's go to girl, walked through the whole team before beating Hannah Wilson high to the glove side. Makin scored again with 37 seconds left to hand Brockville its first loss of the year.
On Sunday, Brockville faced a Kanata team with the winner going to the semi finals and the loser going home. The game started with both teams going back and forth with chances at both ends until Kanata's Sophia Twarog scored just over seven minutes into the period. Exactly five minutes into the second period, Brockville's sniper Megan Robinson tied the game with a very nice rush up the ice.
At this point of the game and maybe a bit before, Brockville took over. With Brockville's Emily Davis doing a great job keeping the puck in the Kanata's zone time after time, it seemed inevitable that Brockville would score again, but the Kanata goalie seemed to step up and keep them in the game. Finally, Emilia Cicinelli got the puck down low to Victoria Gearry who passed to Megan Robinson for the go ahead goal just before the period ended. The third period was more of the same, with Brockville having most of the chances. Brockville moved onto the semi finals to face a yet to be determined team.
Brockville found out that they would play Kingston again, this time at the Youth Arena, 5 p.m. on the Sunday. Not long into the game, Kingston's No. 5 scored to make it 1-0. Brockville is looking a little nervous against the oversized Kingston team, which scores two more goals before Brockville scores to make it 3-1 Kingston. At the end of the first period, it was 4-1 Kingston. The second period gave neither team little opportunity to score and after two it was still 4-1 Kingston. One minute and 15 seconds into the third period, Brockville player Haleigh Baker scored her second goal of the game on a nice rush from the blue line to make the score 4-2. This seemed to bring out the Brockville fans and the cheering began to get loud. While the Angels pressed for another, Hannah Wilson made some key saves on Kingston's Abby Makin. Just to show how hard the girls wanted to come back, Karley Hoyland was set up by a shot from the point by Emily Davis. The goal was not the only good chance Brockville had as the period wound down. With under a minute to play, the Angels had a great chance to tie the game, only to finish with a 4-3 loss. Kingston moved on to beat Smiths Falls 4-1 in the final, a game that seemed similar to Brockville's, with Kingston scoring early to build up a big lead.
