EMC Sports - As thanks for the strong support shown all season long as the club battles for top spot in the CJHL, the Brockville Braves will host a 'Fan Appreciation Night' for its final regular season home game tomorrow (Friday) night.

Brockville Braves players and coaches wait through a lengthy pre-game ceremony prior to their game in Smiths Falls Saturday night. The Bears paid tribute to the 61 year-old Memorial Community Centre which is shutting its doors at the end of this season. A new $11.9 million rink is being built next door and will be the club's new home starting this fall. The Braves won the game 7-2.
The game, against the eighth place Kemptville 73's, could well be a preview of a first round match-up as well. Should the Braves win their final two games this weekend (at home Friday and Sunday at Gloucester), they would edge out the Pembroke Lumber Kings for top spot overall setting up a showdown with the upstart 73's in the best-of-seven quarterfinal.
First things first, however. Friday's game at the Memorial Centre begins at 7:30 p.m. Throughout the evening, the club has announced there will be some great giveaways including gift certificates to Tim Hortons, Galaxy Cinemas and much more. Also up for grabs will be some great Braves merchandise, playoff tickets, and a 10-game pass for the 2010-2011 season.
There will also be food giveaways during the game, and upon entry every fan will be entered to win an autographed Brockville Braves jersey.
There will also be an opportunity for fans to win $600 in cash, and participate in an on-ice challenge to win a gift bag full of great prizes that won't disappoint.
So bring anyone and everyone who has shown their support for the Braves throughout the season and make this regular season closer the loudest, proudest, most-packed rink this season has seen as the organization shows its appreciation.
The Braves sit third in overall league attendance heading into the final weekend, having averaged 617 fans per game through the first 30 contests, a total of 18,517 overall. That's up by more than 170 fans per game compared to a year ago when the club averaged 446 per game for a total attendance of 13,395.
Pembroke is tops with 34,646 or a per-game average of 1,117 while the Cornwall Colts sit second at 26,916 or 897 per game.
The numbers are only likely to grow with the start of the playoffs and progress to what is expected to be a final showdown with the Lumber Kings. While upsets have been known to happen, and certainly the Colts cannot be discounted at this point, these two have been head and shoulders above the rest of the league.
