Museum lecture series returns this month
Posted Feb 2, 2012 By EMC NewsEMC Events - February at the Brockville Museum means the return of its popular Adult Lecture Series. This year the museum is offering five different topics connected to local natural and cultural history.
Most lectures begin at 10 a.m. and run until noon. The exception is an encore presentation on Feb. 21 held in the evening from 7-9 p.m. The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Feb. 14 - 'Old Homes of Leeds & Grenville' looking at local architectural history. Lecturer: Don Glover, 10 a.m. - noon,
- Tuesday, Feb. 14 - '150 Years of the Brockville Infantry Company' the citizen soldiers of the 1860s. Lecturer: Brian Porter, 10 a.m. - noon,
- Tuesday, Feb. 21 - 'Common Ground: Sharing the Earth With Species at Risk': a look at Eastern Ontario's rarest residents. Lecturer: Tim Wood, 10 a.m. - noon and 7-9 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 28 - 'Written in the Stones': celebrating local geological history and the 10th anniversary of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. Lecturer: Dr. Allan Donaldson, 10 a.m. - noon,
- Tuesday, March 6 - 'Building the Thousand Islands International Bridge System, 1937': a huge building project that finished under budget and ahead of schedule! Lecturer: Brian Phillips, 10 a.m. - noon.
Admission for the series is $8 per lecture, or $35 for the entire series.
