Minor Midget Rangers game January 19, 2012
Posted Feb 2, 2012 By EMC NewsEMC Sports - Coming off their lackluster performance against Kemptville, the Minor Midget Rangers coaching staff of Dean Bologna and Mark Rylands completely changed the forward lines and defensive pairings in the game against Perth on Jan. 22. The moves paid off, as South Grenville won 3-1 and dominated with more scoring chances against a very hot Perth goaltender.
Curtis Ross scored twice to lead the Rangers, with assists going to Taylor Mason (2), Aaron White and Auston Wickware. Wesley Schutten played a strong game in nets, and assisted on Nick Grant's empty net goal to seal the victory.
South Grenville coaching staff feel they have found the combinations that will give them more offence as they close in on the playoffs.
On Jan. 19, the visiting Kemptville Panthers kept the South Grenville Minor Midget Rangers on their heels with the end result being a 6-2 win for the Panthers.
The score remained close in the first period, with Kemptville taking a 2-1 lead, one on a power play backhand shot, and the other from sustained pressure in the Rangers end.
Ty Bologna put the Rangers on the board with seven seconds left in the first, with a pass from the corner by a prone John Lawless. The second assist went to Aaron White.
Kemptville then scored three unanswered goals in the second period, mostly on the Rangers' inability to clear their zone along the boards, and the Panthers' desire to be first to the puck.
Curtis Ross added the Rangers' second goal with 23 seconds left in the period on a wraparound play from behind the net. Assists went to Nick Selleck and Aaron White.
Kempville sealed the game midway through the third period on an effective three-way passing play.
Curtis Ross was noted as the Rangers' game hustler.
